calibre not detecting kindle touch
here is my calibre dugging info \;

Your device is not showing up as a drive in widows. Without that calibre cannot detect it.

which is odd because it does show up as a removeable drive in win explorer what can should I try

See the lines:
Unable to get free space for drive: G (21, 'GetDiskFreeSpaceEx', 'The device is not ready.') that means windows is unable to connect to the kindle drive. |

Kindle appears as Removable Disk (G
 Not sure what you mean by :Can you write (copy) a test file TO that drive using explorer? |

Rebooted my kindle while leaving it plugged in to my laptop and bingo all is well again...thanks for you help and patience
