Ponder this before buying your next DVD!

A lot of the general principles also apply to the hoops you have to jump through to buy ebooks. |

I'm not entirely certain what your point is. I don't see how that pertains to ebooks?

People have time to watch a movie but are in too much of a hurry to wait the whole 30-60 seconds for the disc menu to appear?

Quote:
With books, Pirate= want book, have book, read book. Buying= getting around any geographic restrictions that apply, stripping DRM if it isn't available in your format, read book. With both media, you get a better user experience by not buying the real thing. |

Sounds a bit like DRM and second device.
These unsklippable parts can be really annoying. It's like going to the cafe for a coffee, and havng to dring a sip of tea, coke, lemon juice and mud with water before you are allowed to even touch your coffee, and than having the cup explaining to you, that you are not to give anyone else this coffee, becaus it's against the interestf of the coffee producer. You stoically endure it, noly to find out, that your coffee went cold in the meantime. What I actually wanted to say is, that I really dislike unskippable parts of DVDs. And geographical restriction for that matter. |

Thankfully some DVD video software can actually skip the "unskippable" parts.
