Is anyone suffering from Snovember?
In a way I'm kind of jealous. I used to love getting snowed in! Especially at our cabin in the mountains back in Colorado. We had no running water, but plenty of snow. We had electricity, but very few electrical devices, no TV and sketchy radio reception. We had a gas heater floor inset, wood fireplace, and one of those old majestic (?) Wood burning ranges. We usually had about 2 weeks of food on hand, but if it ever got real bad and we couldn't get a car out, it was probably a good half day walk to a gas station/restaurant for help.

Just cold here, no (real) snow. Certainly nothing to compare to the 6 feet or more that parts of western New York state have gotten over the course of a day or two.

In Sydney we're suffering from am early over 35 degree summer.
Today it's due to be 38-40, which is too darn hot!!! Sydney's officially in summer on Dec 1, but November's had some very hot days. And bare in mind it's going to remain quite hot through to end of March next year it makes it one long hot summer. And all the hot days make me feel a bit of a Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 11-20-2014 at 05:12 PM. |

We had snow on Sunday but it didn't stick. This weekend it's just raining.
That's Texas for you. |

In Northern Wisconsin we have some snow and really cold weather that we would be happy to give away.

I live in the UK. We don't really get weather, just unrelenting greyness.

I miss the snow... I miss walking in three feet of snow, surrounded by wilderness as far as the eye could see... But I don't miss driving in the snow. Around here, we get 2 inches of snow on the ground. *imagining snow on cacti*

Snovember (not!) in Wisconsin.
Actually it's pretty nice now that I've finished all the snow shoveling. A white Thanksgiving. |

Bracing for tomorrow's predicted snow -- currently, anywhere from four to eight inches of snow expected. The NY area airports are going to be a mess, and if the major airports have problems then all the airports have problems. Good luck, out there!
My daughter will be flying in tonight, but my son will be traveling tomorrow. He'll be taking a bus for about two thirds of the trip, into NYC, and then the train. The bus could have trouble with the snow, and the trains could have (many) more travelers than usual if the airports get backlogged. Hoo, boy. |

Son's ride on Wednesday took about 4 hours longer than usual, all told.
The snow we got here was wet and heavy and quickly collapsed and froze into a layer of ice. I broke it up and cleared it off the driveway today, and the roads around here are in good shape -- although snow that melts during the day freezes up at night and is causing local ice problems. Sunday I'll be driving him back. New England got much more snow than we did, so it will be interesting to see what his area looks like. Still, no snow expected around here for the rest of November. |
