Font management
I have a book which uses a special font for some of the text. By default it displays on my Kindle as Bookerly, and I have to select "Publisher's Fonts" to see the special font correctly. However, the rest of the text then appears in a sans-serif font. Obviously I can add a CSS rule for <body> to use a serif font as the default, but I have some questions:
1) Where does it get the default font from if there isn't one specified in the book? 2) Is there any way to have the Kindle honor special font specifications without having to manually select "Publisher's Fonts"? 3) Is there any way to mark the book so that anyone else who loads it onto their Kindle will automatically have the correct font selection, rather than having to change it manually? Thanks! |

There was a recent discussion of related issues in this thread.

1) if the book contains embedded fonts, I end up with some sans-serif font or other (don't know which) as the default, but specifying "body { font-family: serif; }" makes the default a serif font (Bookerly?) 2), 3): "no" to both. Am I correct? |

Not the case here, if you look at what I wrote. It's just that I seem to have to select "publisher font" if I want my special font to be used in the places where it's specified, rather than Bookerly (or whatever) being used throughout, regardless of what the CSS says to use.

When using Kindle reading apps instead of an e-ink Kindle device or using KFX format it works as I expect it should. |

The way my Kindle Voyage works is that the default font for a book when first opened is the last font I used with the exception of the "Publisher" Font. If I was using Bookerly, then a new book will default to Bookerly, if I was using Ember, a new book will default to Ember. It will also default to the boldness I had previously been using.
If I'm using the "publisher font"--to make the book use the font that I've embedded in the AZW file, the next book I open will default to whichever Amazon supplied font has been used last. |

I already answered that in post #9. For the default. If you are sure that Bookerly is not the default serif font, then which one is?
