Suggestion: for people who may not be familiar with a book, could you add a brief description, even if it's just copied and pasted from "Amazon"? For example, I've certainly heard of this book, but I'm afraid I must confess that I haven't got the least idea what it's about!

Could I please ask that you follow the post title guidelines described in the "Posting Guidelines" sticky thread - that makes it a lot easier for people to locate books, especially now this forum is "filling up".

ie, call the thread:

Jerome, Jerome K: Three Men in a Boat. v1. 1 May 07

or something similar.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post this; please don't interpret this is any sort of "criticism"; I'm just trying to make sure that this forum section "works" as well as possible by asking people to keep to naming conventions.

I've renamed the thread to follow this convention - hope you don't mind.

Thanks!

Here's a description from wikipedia given in a previous MR request thread.
Quote:
Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog), published in 1889, is a humorous account by Jerome K. Jerome of a boating holiday on the Thames between Kingston and Oxford.

The book was intended initially to be a serious travel guide, with accounts of local history of places along the route, but the humorous elements eventually took over, to the point where the serious and somewhat sentimental passages now seem like an unnecessary distraction to the essentially comic novel. One of the most praised things about Three Men in a Boat is how undated it appears to modern readers. The jokes seem fresh and witty even today.

For some reason, this book crops up again and again in science fiction. Heinlein mentions in Have Space Suit Will Travel, and Connie Willis uses it both for the title and as a plot element in her Hugo award-winning book, To Say Nothing of the Dog. Terry Pratchett's writing has also been compared to that of Jerome K. Jerome.

Three Men in a Boat (not to mention the Dog)

Say -- could this be posted in a MOBI format, for those of us newbies who are coming in on the Kindle band-wagon? (And who have a Mac and not a PC.....) It sounds like a great book!
