Probably absolutely nothing if you read some follow-ups on the story that don't (if you look) self-ref the original report... even the original article used the word "alleges/ed" but a good dollop of Apple-knocking and FUD always helps on a thread round here... and you certainly don't want to let facts get in the way or be waited for before screaming "the sky's falling"

So now the claim that the FBI leaked doesn't matter, it's a leak from "somewhere" because "they" (Anonymous etc) say so... that's OK then, good solid, reliable data and sources...

Again, the FBI denied they were the source of the leak. What's hilarious is that people still buy into anything the government denies. The U.S. Government Denies Just About Everything ... Agent Orange.

BTW, the hackers responded with their own tweet on the FBI's feed that said "Wait, what? So because you don't know of any data breach it never happened?

They also said said it publicized the IDs in order to draw attention to the fact that the FBI was compiling such information, and to get people to start asking why the law enforcement agency might be collecting the data, and what they could be doing with it.

security experts said the file could have come from a number of places.

“There are a million ways this could have happened,” said Marcus Carey, a researcher at Rapid7. “Apple could have been breached. AT&T could have been breached. A video game maker could have been breached. The F.B.I. could have obtained the file while doing forensics on another data breach.”

What does this have to do with security through obscurity?

i think he meant that before, apple was touting that their products were "virus-free", when in fact, it only meant that the OS wasn't popular enough (yet) for hackers to target. at least, that's how i understand it.

Seems the only obscurity occurred when the facts got in the way of your dull-ax-to-grind mission.

What I find hilarious is that you whine about the government but advertise a branch of the service as your picture. Is that just to drum up sympathy or empathy for your personal point of view? Is it supposed to add some credence to your buffoonery?
You are a polite and friendly fellow, aren't you?
