I installed 4.41.23145 on my Clara BW and still seem to have the 2019 dictionary. I don't especially care either way. But ever word I've looked up has etymology and a copyright date of 2019.

The attached photo is crummy, but shows what I see.

I'm not fully sure, but it may be that you get the 2024 dictionary if you update via WiFi.

That would be good to know. I'd be more likely to update if updating manually let you keep the 2019 dictionary and my favorite patches still worked (Libra 2 and Clara BW). OTOH, I'm not seeing anything particularly useful in this round of updates.

Wake up on page turn would be worth it, but that's only on the Libra Colour.

As far as I know the dictionaries get updated on a wifi sync and is not related at all to the f/w upgrade

Yeah, I don't see anything either to make me want to update.

I installed the 2024 dictionary as a custom dictionary, just in case I stumble upon any of those new words and want to look them up.

For anyone interested in looking at content details to compare the 2019 vs 2024 versions of the Kobo English dictionary, attached is a zip containing 4 TXT files where each file is a list of words contained in the dictionary.

I hope a simple list of words doesn't breach copyright ... but you never know.

Notes:

• headwords: the main lookup words in the dictionary
• allwords: all headwords plus any variant words included in a headword entry.

A couple of examples of headword/variants as found in the 2024 dicthtml.zip dictionary:

• headword: "beach"
  variant words: "beaches", "beached", "beaching"
• headword: "be"
  variant words: "are", "was", "am", "been", "were", "is", "being"

That's only in firmwares for the 2024 Kobo devices, i.e. 4.39.x 4.40.x 4.41.x, but the fonts aren't "new", as such. Georgia & Avenir have been replaced with 'Rakuten Serif' & 'Rakuten Sans' on Kobos.

Tolino devices use a single GUI font, Bariol. Although Bariol is present in the Kobo 2024 devices' firmware, it is not shown in the Kobo [Aa] list of fonts.

That's not what I was talking about. See post #40 for a screenshot of what I mean.
