So... have they abandoned the freescale Kobos outside of security updates? This is incredibly disappointing. I really doubt updating the UI with the new font and whatnot requires a Mediatek SoC.

4.38.23171 is also available for older devices. The 4.41 is just for the Libra Colour and Clara Colour / BW

The Oxford English Dictionary has been updated to the 2024 version. I guess I'll be updating my Kobos, unless some of my patches from the previous firmware won't work.

In the new 4.38.21908 firmware, the only one of my patches that does not apply is Increase size of kepub chapter progress chart which is in nickel.yaml.

That’s a bummer. Definitely a downgrade.

Edit to add:I just checked my Clara BW with firmware 4.40.23081 and the dictionary says copyright 2024. Does that mean it’s already the 2024 version?

The dictionary update is separate from the firmware upgrade and had been there since late September.

If you check the thread listing Official Kobo Dictionaries you'll find discussions about it, and I think a link someone posted to the old dictionary.

Well, I looked and it seems the 2024 dictionary has other drawbacks as well. Sigh... Probably not going to update at the moment, then.

I did download the old version, just in case. As my Kobos have not been online since July, I still have the old versions on them.
