kepub Cover page resizing

I'd like to change how covers are displayed when showing the cover page in kepubs. In the screenshots I've attached the covers all have white bars on either side. I'd like to find a way to eliminate these. I know the images will be slightly distorted as a result, but I don't mind, as I only ever use my kobo in portrait mode, and the screen size is close enough to the dimensions of a cover image that the distortion won't be too bad.

(weird side note, I've noticed that if I have the progress bar turned on, the top of the cover seems to be showing below the progress bar for some reason)

You will need to resize the cover images to 3x4 (i.e. 1125x1500). As for the dimensions of a cover image, the aspect ratio is more important. I've seen cover images with aspect ratios ranging from 1x1.1 to 2.4x1 (the last one would be a cover image that was originally 1800 pixels wide by 750 pixels tall). These wider than tall images are often used for omnibuses where they show multiple book spines as part of the cover.

If you are converting the books in Calibre, (epub to epub conversion), look in the Epub Output options, and Uncheck "Preserve Cover Aspect Ratio."

If you want to edit just the cover page *without* converting, open the book in the Editor, Delete everyting between the <body> and </body> place your cursoe between those two tags, click Insert Image Button, Make sure that Full Page Image is checked, and Preserve Aspect Ratio is *not* checked, then click on the cover image.

Unfortunately, I do not know a way to automate this. The Modify Epub plugin has an option to replace the cover, but no options on how it is formated.
