Dev help for AskGPT: save text translations to note?

So I´ve been tinkering with a fork of the AskGPT plugin in the hope of adding a save translation to note highlight feature.

So far however tapping the ´Save to Note´ button crashes KOReader. Would really appreciate any help with this as I´m not a developer. It would be great to have something close to an opensource LingQ if we can get this to work.

I modified the ChatGPT prompt in plateaukao´s fork so that translations are output in English instead of Chinese. This fork offers better UX as text can be translated in one tap instead of two.

Does anyone know how translation output can be saved to a note for the selected input text?

Yes, I´m not a developer and tried tinkering using Claude in the hope of getting something to work so it´s highly likely that bogus code was added.

Any idea which koreader modules I should be looking at to create notes from ai translation output? Something like the built-in save to note feature for google translations is what I´m hoping for.

It is usually easier to learn programming 101 and then have a couple of evenings to grasp lua and a couple more to figure out the chunks of the codebase you want to change.

Relying on AI is going to be surprise after surprise. Even if something somehow works as intended at some random point in time the next iteration will fail in some stupid way.

Also, you can create shortcuts on the main popup to reach a functionality in one step.
