KOreader progress sync not working between Kobo Libra 2 and Boox Palma

I am unable to sync between my Boox Palma and Kobo Libra 2 using koreader,'s progress sync is the file extension on the KL2 is kepub.epub causing the issue?

I used both binary and file matching.

Hopefully someone has gone through the same experience!

Are the md5 sums, as displayed in each of the books' metadata.lua files, identical? If I'm not mistaken, that's all that's needed to make binary matching mode work. I've had the same book file end up with inexplicably different checksums on different devices, but as long as the md5 checksums stated in the metadata files match (even if you have to hand-edit them), progress sync should work.

I was able to get it working by transferring the epub file from my KL2 to the Palma. Files end with ".kepub.epub". Progress sync was done via File matching. It's an inconvenient way that works. Either I have to do it all at once for all the books in my library or only for those that are currently being read. I guess this will do for now!

There's no benefit to KEPUB if you're using KOReader, so you might as well load your KL2 with regular EPUB files so that the extensions will match on both devices.

Initially, I've been attempting to do exactly that however Calibre just keeps loading the books and adding .kepub in the file name. I've tried removing the kepub plugins etc and the result is the same lol
