I logged out of x11. I relogged in under wayland which works. I cannot use x11.

I was recently rejuvenating a really old laptop, and ended up putting Bodhi Linux on it. I got this same message when trying to start Calibre. Discovered a useful thing:

Set the environment variable QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1

This will give you more information when Calibre fails to start, so you can figure out what is missing. I ended up having to install 4 0r 5 "xcb" things before it worked.

Yeah the most common ones are xinerama and cursor but there can be any number of them depending on what you have preinstalled from xcb on your system. There's some info about it on the calibre linux download page.

Thanks, kovidgoyal After installing what you recommended, there was a long list that says that the packages are no longer required. Below the list, it asks to remove them. I think it is risky to use that command (autoremove), what shall I do?
