Well, an organization with the website www.pacer.org has produced at least one comic book for those who have been affected by bullying. It seems, to me, that that might be a good way for shy children, or those otherwise afraid to speak up, to get help if they are faced with bullying at school or elsewhere.

The comics are drawn, at least, by Daniel Keane of Chicago.

The pdf ebook is free. It is about 28 pages long.

Here is the direct download link.

Adults might be interested in this free pdf, Student Victimization in U.S. Schools, published by the IES National Center for Education Sciences. This ebook does not give resources for parents of bullied children, it provides results, with commentary, on the "results from the 2009 school crime supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey." Download it directly from here.

I purchased from Amazon a Captain America issue for my Kindle 4.

It did not download automatically, and when I tried to download it manually, Amazon said that it is incompatible with my Kindle.

I have had no trouble with my Calvin and Hobbes comics.

Any suggestions?

I forget if you said you have a smartphone, but perhaps the Kindle or ComiXology apps can read the file.

New Humble Bundle is up, and it's for:

Humble Comics Bundle Garth Ennis presented by Dynamite, mostly consisting of assorted volumes and complete story-arc issues of the popular author's series The Boys, Battlefields, Jennifer Blood and his work for The Shadow pulp franchise. Quite a bit of The Boys and The Shadow have appeared in previous bundles, and I think some of it is still being offered in the current Groupees offerings for The Dynamite Fantasy Bundle which has been extended and which now offers you the option of purchasing all the previous Dynamite Groupees bundles as higher tiers, and the current Bundle of Independents.

But all the Battlefields stuff and the particular Jennifer Blood volume look new, and it seems like a good way to get everything in one place if you don't already have it.

Current average is fluctuating a lot, but under $11 (extra books will be added next week), top-tier is $15.

And there's a free daily comic issue offer if you sign up for the newsletter (as with previous HB Dynamite daily comics samplers, you only have to do it once now and you'll get the rest auto-added to the key page that you get, rather than like previous years when you had to come back and click on the offer daily to get each new comic).

Quote:
Ennis is in this! Dynamite has teamed up with acclaimed comic book writer Garth Ennis, author of the hit series' Preacher, to bring us two of his long-running franchises, The Boys and Battlefields, plus a few more of his comics Ennis bundle!

Pay what you want for Battlefields Vol. 1: The Night Witches, Battlefields Vol. 2: Dear Billy, The Boys Vol. 1: The Name of the Game, The Boys Vol. 2: Get Some, The Boys Vol. 3: Good For the Soul, and The Boys Vol. 4: We Gotta Go Now.

Pay more than the average price to also receive Battlefields Vol. 5: The Firefly and His Majesty, Battlefields Vol. 3: The Tankies, Battlefields Vol. 4: Happy Valley, Jennifer Blood Vol. 1 A Woman's Work Is Never Done, The Shadow Vol. 1: The Fire of Creation, The Boys Vol. 5: Herogasm, The Boys Vol. 6: The Self-Preservation Society, The Boys Vol. 7: The Innocents, and The Boys Vol. 8 Highland Laddie.

Pay $15 or more for all of that plus Battlefields Vol. 6: Motherland, Battlefields Vol. 7: The Green Fields Beyond, Battlefields Vol. 8: The Fall and Rise of Anna Kharkova, The Boys Vol. 9: The Big Ride, The Boys Vol. 10: Butcher, Baker Candlestickmaker, The Boys Vol. 11: Over the Hill With the Swords of a Thousand Men, and The Boys Vol. 12: The Bloody Doors Off.

Well, Comixology prices the Complete Battlefields volumes at $15.99 each, and Vol. 2 of that only takes you through 6 story-arcs of what's being offered in the HB, so as long as you read through 7 story-arcs, you'll have gotten your money's worth at the top tier even if Dynamite later holds a 50% off sale.

Speaking of sales, Comixology is holding the Darwyn Cooke sale for up to 50% off assorted DC Comics titles of his (single issues), through May 16th.

Cooke is one of my favourite creators, and I would especially recommend The New Frontier and his Solo issue out of that. His Before Watchmen minis are also pretty decent (the Minutemen one is the better of the two, although the Silk Spectre one with story by him and art by Amanda Conner is also nicely done if you wanted more backstory on the characters), and so is his artwork in the Catwoman run written by Brubaker.

Interestingly, the new version of the Android Kindle App mentions this new feature:
Quote:
Landscape Support for Comics — You will now be able to view select comics in landscape orientation.
Here's the page with the release notes:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=201245160

However, when I tried the feature on a few random comics, it didn't work...
