Such a resolution is exactly what is needed for PDF.
That would clearly make it the best reader for a lot of people.
To make it a perfect reader, they would need to add all the advantages of the other readers : touch-screen, front-light, android.

these "advantages" are questionable

front-light adds a layer over the screen, which reduces contrast. multi touch will be good only if it will be infrared for the same reason

Won't there be some minor changes needed in firmware of low res M92 to work on this?

Interesting. Returning back to the question of dpi needed. This concept by Sony has 150 dpi.

I think Booxstor alredy wrote that HD update of M92 is planned. But it will be more expensive than current m92.

It's much more expensive and eink holding will not mass produce them in short future. But anyway, it's still possible to produce some samples for those early adapters.

I think it would help put back the M92 back in the news, and it would get sales from the people who were excited by presentation of the experimental Sony 13" reader, but do not want to wait until next year to get a great PDF reader.
One more advantage of the high resolution would be when using the monochrome mode : black and white fonts would look much better (now they look much worse than when using 16 shades of gray). It is interesting because this mode, at least on my Sony PRS-T1, allows fast scrolling inside PDF documents, and allows the use of many android software. That is why it would be logical to add the option "Never" for screen refresh.
