How long have we been waiting for such a coupon?

021012 - 60% off all eBooks! Expires: Feb 14

Here I'm off, to get some of the follow-up books from the ones I got during January ...

Silly question I've only used fictionwise once and it was a while ago, when I try to go through the checkout I get this message

"NOTE: One or more of the eBooks you are about to purchase is in Secure eReader format. This eBook format can be read on the iPhone and iPod touch, Palm OS devices, PocketPC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003 and later, PC/Mac and Symbian devices, using the eReader software. This file is encrypted using your name and credit card number and can only be opened using that data. Please also note that this format does not work on the Sony Reading device."

The books are marked as secure ereader are these a type of epub? Does this note mean I cannot put the books through calibre(with tools) and then transfer them to my sony?

Calibre with tools should be fine, after you've downloaded the books with the Secure eReader software onto your PC. Why don't you try it out with just one ebook first? The coupon works more than once.

The books that are multiformat are DRM free, and you can download the epub to your Sony. The encrypted ebooks are in the eReader format, which is a proprietary format that is primarily sold only at Fictionwise and eReader.com. If you are OK with removing DRM and have the tools commonly associated with Apprentice Alf, you can convert them to epub via Calibre, but you will not be able to read them on your Sony without the DRM removal tools.

Last one was the weekend of 15/16th October 2011. Yes, time to splash out on some of my wish list there, I think. (Oh, my poor TBR total!)

I was unable to get Calibre to strip the DRM from a Secure eReader format file and have been unable to read it on my Sony T1. YMMV.

If you had latest tools and latest calibre, it must have been your configuration and/or installation of the tools. But we can't help you here. Go and ask at Apprentice Alf's blog.

I buy Secure Reader all the time. Never an issue getting Calibre to convert them. I don't have too much on my wishlist so not sure what I'll get yet

You'd think I'd learn. Once again I bought some Multiformat stuff and once again one of them is formatted with all of its section breaks missing (I know it should have them going by a friends copy from another source and also from the publisher and Kindle samples).
