Still no code for me. I opted in the first day, have redone the opt-in several times since then, and nothing, nothing, nothing.

Got my books across today 230 out of 234, two of the missing are dictionaries, and I haven't found the others. Shrug.
Mind, Barnes thinks I live in the USA. |

I only had 30 or so FW books, all backed up, so it's just a minor annoyance, but I'd like to have them in the BN account if possible. |

At least FW is trying to talk to you. They still haven't sent me a shutdown warning notice of any kind, and I had to find out from MR what was going on.

Miracle of miracles I got my code today! Don't give up hope, and don't forget to check your spam folders. That's where mine ended up but I retrieved it and put it where it belonged. Now here's hoping I get all my books transferred.
I just checked B&N and all my books transferred over! So long Fictionwise it was nice knowing you. Last edited by cfrizz; 12-19-2012 at 08:05 PM. Reason: Update |

How NOT to do customer service
It dawned on me last night that B&N could have guaranteed themselves a huge and free bump in their customer base, simply by handling this transition professionally and competently. One might suspect that the offer to port the libraries over was an attempt to engender goodwill from these "free" customers, and I applaud this effort.
However, the way they've botched what should have been a rather simple technical challenge (which they had over a year to prepare for) makes it *extremely* unlikely that I'll ever purchase an e-book, let alone any reader hardware, from Barnes & Noble. Based on this fiasco, I have zero confidence in them as a caretaker for my electronic purchases. |

What is it that the Mayans and Barnes & Noble know that we don't?

No code for me yet.
I called them again last night, and now they are telling me a a supervisor will call me to give me the code in the next couple of days. I dunno, it sounds pretty silly to me. Voice is the worst way to transmit such a code, guaranteed to be error-riddled. They really are handling this badly. It should all have followed automatically from the opt-in. |
