Flashing N516 in Windows 7

When I try to install the driver, windows doesn't recognise the supplied driver (usb_boot_driver).

Is it a valid windows 7 driver, or do I need to install it in an XP VM?

Can anyone help?

Device: Hanvon N516 - patched with Scriba V.2.5.3.2 Firmware
Try following:

- Boot your device N516.
- Connect USB.
- Press 'Rotate' button of your N516. While you press the button reset your device by using small hole on back side of the device.
- Now you can take your finger from 'Rotate' button.
- Windows 7 will search for a device calling ' jz4740 usb boot device'.
- You can break the automatic driver search of windows.
- Go to your device manager of windows.
- Look for your new device (calling 'Usb_Boot_device' / ' jz4740 usb boot device' or 'unknown device'.
- Select the driver 'Usb_Boot_Driver.inf'
- A message appears that the driver is not signed, accecpt this!
- Installing process of the device while take a few minutes. Wait!
- You will see under 'Igenic Usb Boot Class' the device 'Usb Boot Device'.
- Now you can start boot.exe as described in the description for flashing your device.

ASD

I've come to this thread with a similar problem, only that Windows 7 insists that the driver does not exist in the folder I point it to when I use the process described by ASnoopy.

Is there any way to tell the driver updater to look at a specific file instead of an entire folder?

64 bit driver?

Hi!

You need to choose "update driver", manual search and show a list of drivers. Then let it show all devices and select to use your own drive. (I'm not sure if those are the correct terms of the english windows version, as I retranslated them from german.).

Yet, my problem is that the supplied driver is only for 32 bit windows versions. Is there any 64 bit driver out there? Unfortunately I can't find one.

Or even better: Is there a way to use linux to do the initial flashing?

Thanks a lot,
Olaf
