Downloading Calibre Linux install from China

Hi

I have only some months experience, but downloading Calibre binary for linux takes hours... So much that I'll update later.

I am an Archlinux user, and frequent updates are the norm. They run as quickly here as in Europe because Chinese servers are pretty good at least for allowed software. As far as I know, Calibre is not forbidden in China.

Could the Calibre download page be linked to some Chinese mirror so as to make the download possible?

calibre downloads are available from three sources, check the windows download page for example. Download the tarball manually from one of them and then use it as described on the linux download page.

Thanks for the tip. That probably explains why there are so few complaints.

Edit: downloaded from link 1. then:

Code:
[roger@lenovo Bureau]$ sudo mkdir -p /opt/calibre && sudo rm -rf /opt/calibre/* && sudo tar xvf calibre-4.8.0-x86_64.txz -C /opt/calibre && sudo /opt/calibre/calibre_postinstall
[sudo] Mot de passe de roger*:
Pretty quick download and install. I have the feeling though that I installed again Python 2.7... Well,it's working.

Do you have any particular problem with using the archlinux repository package for calibre? I even uploaded 4.9 last night.

The distro repositories are certainly mirrored in china.

@eschwartz

Thanks for the tip. Looks more convenient for me.

I'll try it.
