Possible to recover a bricked Boox Note Plus?

Boox Note Plus was stuck at android 6 which makes a big hurdle to my current workflow. So I've kept it in the drawer for a while.
Yesterday I noticed Onyx had released an upgrade from Android 6 to 9 for Note Pro. Thinking that the only difference is the disk and ram sizes, I boldly tried the flashing and with no surprise it bricked... I cannot enter recovery mode either. I can only do the "Loader" or "MaskRom" flashing.

So, any suggestions that I could follow to unbrick this device? Many thanks.

I presume this is a model that has a Rockchip processor (vs. Qualcomm)?
Have you looked further for a Note Plus 6-9 upgrade?

Yes, it should be a Rockchip one.
Onyx didn't release any 6 to 9 upgrade information for models other than Note/Nova Pro.

According to google it is a RK3328 device. These devices are almost indestructible software wise.

But you need to contact onyx and request the proper firmware for your device. Tell them it seems briked but you're able to boot in loader mode, so you'll need something like https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...P-oeDkODMeou16 (link gathered from https://downloads.boox.com/download/note) but able to be flashed with Rockchip Android Flash Tool.

But since you're at it you can request a specific guide, if they have one.

FWIW all RK devices are mostly the same, with the exception of the key combo used to boot in loader mode.

Since your device seems screwed it will fallback to loader if the storage works or to maskrom otherwise

Recovering from maskrom is also possible as long as your internal storage is not fried but you'll need to pass a 2nd stage bootloader (u-boot) first in order to boot & load the rest of the firmware.
