Won't turn on
Hey guys, looking for some help
Two nights ago, my H2O suddenly decided to make me stop reading and go into random update mode. The next morning, the screen was still claiming to update but there was no movement on screen whatsoever. I decided to switch the thing off last night (still stuck on updating) and turn it back on. However, it wouldn't do that. I tried resets, but all that happens is that my screen flashes black twice and then turns off again. Decided to put it on charger and let it charge for the entire night. However, this morning nothing happened. Also, the power LED is continually on. When I reset/use power button,it tends to turn off for a while, but then goes on again and stays that way. I've tried hooking it up to my computer, but it doesn't recognise anything being plugged in. My H2O is only a few months old, can anyone help? Last edited by ChibiYali; 08-26-2015 at 04:20 AM. |

See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=18 for some steps that might fix it. I am pretty sure you will need to do the factory reset steps, but ensuring it is off and charging it before doing anything else is important.

Plug it in. It is quite possible that after a few minutes the device will start.
- Doesn't start. If it doesn't, leave it to charge for an hour. - Charged all night. Unplug it. - Check. Look at the power button and turn it on. Does the red LED flash? Does the screen do anything? - The white light turns on and flashes once. The screen goes black twice, then it returns to 'dead' mode. Hold the power button down for at least 20 seconds. This will force the device off. - Check. Nothing happens, but check. Again, look at the power button and turn it on. Does the red LED flash? Does the screen do anything? - The white light turns on and flashes once. The screen goes black twice, then it returns to 'dead' mode. Do a factory reset: Hold the power button down for at least 20 seconds. Yes, I keep saying that, but do it. - Allright, if you say so. Hold the power button down and tap both of the bottom corners of the screen. Keep tapping until something happens. - The white light turns on and doesn't flash anymore. The screen goes black twice, then it returns to 'dead' mode. Release the power button. - Nothing happens. Poor H2O. |

Yeah, was going to do that.
In other news, the LED has decided to not give up and continuously stay on. I think it clings on to a shred of hope. Too bad the rest of the H2O doesn't agree with that. I believe it's the only sign of life that can be detected. Switched it off again so that it may rest in piece. Chibi's Kobo H2O: *25-5-2015 +26-8-2015 The three months I spent with you were wonderful. Let's hope Kobo will be kind. If not, I'll just go back to the store where I got it from and bat my eyelashes. Worst part of it all: I just got sucked into a book and I arrived at the climax of the story! Gah!!!! I want to know what happened!!! Last edited by ChibiYali; 08-26-2015 at 04:49 AM. |

There's a timing thing involved? I just keep tapping like a madwoman. I think about 15-16 times now?

Check the kobo disk when you connect it to a computer. You may just need to log out of your Kobo account on the device, and back in again, to trigger a re-processing.

If she had sideloaded books on the internal storage, the factory reset would have wiped them. Books purchased from Kobo would be restored during a sync either over wifi or through the Kobo desktop but sideloaded content would need to be recopied and processed.
