PRS-600 How does audio work on prs-600

Hi, I got my sony prs-600 as a x mas gift and I love it, but I don't understand how to get the audio to work. Do I need headphones a speaker or a mp3 player?It has the 2 sample songs on there and it says they are playing but i am not hearing it! I did turn up the volume but still nothing. I would like to try one of the audio books if I can. Thanks

Try using the headphone socket... it works then but audio does chew up the battery time...

Of course, it works with headphones that you'll put in the socket near the usb socket at the bottom of PRS-600. BTW, you can put your MP3 files either in the main memory or on SD (or Memory Stick) card. As elcreative mentioned, your batteries will last lot less.
