Let's gooooo. I already ripped off the front serial pads the first time I did the jailbreak and then had to use these back ones. They look nasty vulgar language deleted not sure I'll get contact with my $1 soldering iron. Last edited by issybird; 03-26-2020 at 07:27 PM. Reason: Image resized, foul language. |

Your photo is way too large. You need to remove it from the image takes and attach it.

Im terrible at soldering I can't get connection (( tried twice. Will try more again. I might need some iso alcohol to clean the contacts idk
What would be the process for restoring my device once I have serial access? Its stuck on "diag exit please use serial port" screen. |

It lists at least three different ways to make the connections WITHOUT using a soldering iron. |

im making solid contact, but I think I burnt out the serial pads on both sides. They're completely black with only a little copper showing. idk. Nothing happens in putty.

Check that your connections are like: gnd <-> gnd Tx -> Rx Rx <- Tx Also be certain that you set the adapter's interface voltage to 1.8 volts, not the 3.3 or 5.0 settings. |

I've confirmed I'm using the correct points. I think I've destroyed the serial connection because no matter how many times I try to resolder it on, nothing is happening in putty.
Good thing I ordered a replacement first lol Lesson learned: dont mess with fastboot while under the influence |

You will need a really good and high-quality soldering iron that can cope with this problem. Motherboards are very sensitive to soldering irons and you should be very careful during soldering to avoid serious mistakes. In principle, you can solder the capacitors from the motherboard with a regular soldering iron without adjusting the temperature. Do not choose a soldering iron with a power of less than 40 W – the tip may not have time to warm up the solder, cool down in the solder, and a soldering iron with a power of more than 80-100 W-can overheat and damage the board, tracks and components on it. So I hope you will carefully choose your new soldering iron. Good luck!
