What I think Apple could do is show them both in the lobby and the power goes out and he keeps reading and she just sits in the dark. And he turns to her and says, "So how's your book?"

And then Amazon shows her turning on her new lighted cover and saying "Great." Then his iPad flickers and dies "Oh, did your battery die already?"

I'm not getting your point. How did this commercial show the Kindle in such a bad light that it made you glad you didn't get one?

Not technically. it's a fine machine.
That commercial just makes it look like the Kindle is the perfect e-reader to use while wrapped up in your Smuggie |

Some suspect overheating. With the K3 being smaller and thinner heat may not be dissipating properly. Others say any direct light causes slow page turns. One person shined a flashlight on the screen as an experiment and page turns slowed considerably. Hopefully, Amazon will have a fix soon. |

You all are missing the point. The moral of the story is: if you want to seduce a hot woman, don't talk about technology.

I have read my DXG outdoors all summer long. It has not shut down on me yet and my page turn speed has been fine.

The jungle terrain is too harsh for an apple tree to grow on. Hehe.

I actually enjoyed the Windows / apple commercials. Thought they were funny, if not entirely accurate. I also enjoyed this commercial. I would hope people would spend more time doing research rather than buying based on this one commercial. Oh, what am I saying....remember elections?

I consider the iPad an eReader as much as I consider my Phone an eReader. It's like saying that I use my Nook as a web browser. Just because it has the capability doesn't mean it deserves the title.

I tried checking in for a flight and it didn't work at all. What a joke. On cell phone, stuff is too small. With iPad, 30 bucks is cheap to me. In parts of Asia, where I am now, I'm paying about 20 for unlimited data. I got off a plane, got a SIM, and I had unlimited Internet and e-mail, and instant wireless access to Amazon book purchasing. A bargain. Last edited by Maggie Leung; 09-14-2010 at 06:41 AM. |

I see nothing wrong with the add. If you want to read in bright or outdoor places in daylight, Kindle is the better ereader.
We're talking about what's the best device for a specific purpose. BTW, about the example of the two guys in a ticket line... If it were daylight, the iPad guy couldn't be checking the email and stuff, because he couldn't see it on screen. |
