Did you watch the Hap and Leonard TV series? It was terrific and I wish it had continued more than 3 short seasons. It's available on Netflix (US).

I just bought a Samsung Neo Qled (85A series) 75-inch TV last week. A few days later I signed up on Netflix for the first time ever. (I've never owned a TV bigger than my butt, so this new TV is quite startling! )

So...thanks for the info on the Hap and Leonard TV series.

Enjoy man. It's a very good show. I believe each season covers one book.

And as a horror fan, you need to look up Mike Flanagan and watch everything he has available. I just finished the miniseries Midnight Mass (not related to the F. Paul Wilson novel). It was terrific. The Haunting of Hill House, Gerald's Game, Hush, Before I Wake... all top notch stuff.

Now you see why Americans are reading less...

1) If I said 55" in another post, I meant 45" !

2) Thank you for the recommendations. I'll definitely check them out and hope they're available in the country I'm currently stuck in. (I just discovered I can't get Criterion Channel [my favorite], unless [maybe] I get a VPN [additional cost] and use Airplay [compromising video quality?].)

3) The attention span of some people is akin to encountering concentrated farts of dissonance; hence reading - lacking a game controller - is a confusing and disconcerting activity.

Quote:
For him, death was a vocation. He was a maestro in the art of death. The keeper of time. The bringer of destiny.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is as tough as New York cops come. But on discovering the tortured body of a young woman, Eve is catapulted back to nine years ago, when a serial killer plagued the city and taunted her mercilessly.

Putting rings on their fingers and carving their bodies, he was named The Groom. And this time he is working up to his greatest challenge yet: abducting a woman who will test him like never before and become his most gratifying victim yet - Eve.

About a year later, A Dangerous Man by Robert Crais is on sale again in the US, for $1.99. This is still the most recent (2019) in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HW1BWHQ
Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07HW1BWHQ
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/a-dangerous-man-21

Spoiler:
Quote:
A brilliant new crime novel from the beloved, bestselling, and award-winning master of the genre--and Joe Pike's most perilous case to date.

Joe Pike didn't expect to rescue a woman that day. He went to the bank same as anyone goes to the bank, and returned to his Jeep. So when Isabel Roland, the lonely young teller who helped him, steps out of the bank on her way to lunch, Joe is on hand when two men abduct her. Joe chases them down, and the two men are arrested. But instead of putting the drama to bed, the arrests are only the beginning of the trouble for Joe and Izzy.

After posting bail, the two abductors are murdered and Izzy disappears. Pike calls on his friend, Elvis Cole, to help learn the truth. What Elvis uncovers is a twisted family story that involves corporate whistleblowing, huge amounts of cash, the Witness Relocation Program, and a long line of lies. But what of all that did Izzy know? Is she a perpetrator or a victim? And how far will Joe go to find out?

A bunch of Stephanie Plum titles (most of the titles between 9 and 15, and also 21 and 26), and one title in her Barnaby series (Motor Mouth) are all $2.99 each as part of today's Kindle US Daily Deal. Most or all are matched at Kobo.

I am in a huge crunch today, so no individual links. But here is a link to the Stephanie Plum series at Kindle US: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B074C4DHGS

And to Motor Mouth: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JMKTGE

And to Janet Evanovich's books at Kobo, sorted by price, so the sale titles should be at the beginning: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/search?qu...&sort=PriceAsc

The Dark Hours is the most recent (2021) in Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch/Renée Ballard series. It has dropped to £0.99 as part of today's UK Kindle Daily Deal.

Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08WPWZ57C/

Spoiler:
Quote:
On New Year's Eve at the end of one of the hardest years in history, hundreds of revellers shoot their guns into the air in time-honoured LA tradition. But as the rain of lead comes down, a man is shot dead in the middle of a crowded street party.

Detective Renée Ballard soon connects the bullet to an unsolved cold case last worked by legendary ex-LAPD detective Harry Bosch. As they investigate where the old and new cases connect, a new crime shatters the night shift.

The Midnight Men are a pair of violent predators who stalk the city during the dark hours, and will kill to keep their identities secret.

In a police department shaken to the core by pandemic and protests, both cases have the power to save Ballard's belief in the job - or take everything from her...
