Problems with installation of calibre 64 bit

My windows installer comes up with this message when trying to install calibre 64 bit 'This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.' Please can you give me some advice to get it working?

Lists the usual reason.

BTW there is a lot of good tips and other info in the FAQ.

If you used MSIE to download the installer, give Firefox a try. I've used Firefox on both the 32-bit and 64-bit installers and not once have I had a problem installing because the installer was corrupted.

OH, one other thing.
Always SAVE TO FILE, and not try to run installer direct from the download site.

Is this a new calibre install or an update to a previous install ?

Have you previously installed and uninstalled calibre - as in a while ago?

What version of Windows ?

Where did you download from - most of us always get it from here http://calibre-ebook.com/download

If your stuck - you could try downloading & unpacking the portable version
