Why I always convert to mp3

So annoyed! I downloaded a new book from Audible this morning, didn't have time to convert it to mp3 right away, but figured that since my Clip Sport can handle Audible files, I'd have no problem listening. Left for an appointment, started the Sport, and discovered, no, I couldn't play the file because my Sport isn't authorized. No time to go back home and try to figure out how to do that, so I ended up losing about four hours of listening time. Grrrrr!

Oh, that's a heartbreaker! That's a big chunk of most books right there.

Not this one: This is the new Sinatra biography, 40+ hours. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had something else to listen to, but I had only books I'd just finished reading.

LOL, that's why I said most books (recently coming off a mammoth bio myself).

I know it's wicked of me, but I try to keep something loaded on all my devices, just in case. The wickedness is because sometimes it means OverDrive books go well past their due date (although I do delete them, of course, once heard).

My Sport isn't authorized either, and nothing will play that's put in the Audible folder. They only allow 3 Sandisk devices, which stinks, as I have 6 in the house.

Issybird, I do that, too. Though I try to keep up.

I try to keep up (and I use the OverDrive app on smaller gadgets, so that helps keep me honest), but some books are really too long to be listened to within a two-week check-out period. That helps alleviate my guilt when I extend that latitude to books I just didn't get to in time.

It's silly; I have about six also, though most of them are primarily for music files. But before I got the Sport with the great battery life, when I needed to recharge I would often temporarily swap out the card to whichever device had some juice left. Question: If you have an Audible book on a card in an authorized device, can you move the card to play the file on an unauthorized device?

I don't think any of the SanDisk players I own now are authorized with Audible. I guess I must have once know about authorizing a device, but I certainly didn't remember anything about it yesterday. it makes sense for a wi-fi device so one can use Whispersync technology, but otherwise, why? Anyone who wanted to do mass sharing would convert the file to mp3 anyway, not be sharing aa and aax files.

Anyway, I've now converted my book to mp3 and am happily listening without Audible on my unauthorized Sport.
