Touch Upgrade stops at 1.9.17

I upgraded my KT from 1.9.17 to 2.0 - no problems.
Tried to upgtade my wife's KT from 1.9.16 (she does not really believe in frequent upgrades) and got it to 1.9.17 but for some reason. It does NOT want to upgrade any further. I even used Windows7 - but no luck.
Is this a known problem? is a factory reset (which version?) necessary?

Don't do anything.

Kobo has pulled the 2.0.0 release, reverting back to 1.9.17.

Any attempt to upgrade from the Kobo website will result in1.9.17 being installed on your Touch.

I still have it, it installed ok. Is a bit clunky tho.

So I assume there will be a 2.0.1 or something so those already on 2.0.0 will get updated...

Depends on what the problem was.

When they re-released 1.9.17 after a few hours, they kept the same version number.

Sameer has stated that he hasn't decided if it'll be an incremental (2.0.1) or just a "Fixed" version of 2.0.0 which will require a reset and update.

Actually, he said that it hasn't been decided. I suspect that the decision is not his or not his alone.

I think the longer it remains unavailable the more likely it is a .1 rev.

I think everyone is aware that you shouldn't rush to update to the latest firmware unless you're adventurous. If you give it about a week, that's enough time for any common problems to become clear, and for the Kobo team to fix any urgent ones. Then you can decide if you want to update. Unfortunately it's difficult to evade updates permanently, unless you never connect to Kobo again. It would be nice if Kobo did more testing, but you can't have everything. Testing takes time and costs money and resources, especially when dealing with a large and diverse user group. You can't have frequent updates, reasonable cost, and thorough testing all at the same time. Kobo's balance isn't too bad.

When everyone is noticing slower page turns, it seems like a pretty big

Ok, I'll bite

Being pedantic, how do you know it's not his decision to make? Perhaps he is ultimately responsible for the Go / No Go on this type of things. Obviously devs, qa and management would need to have input, but he may be the one that makes the ultimate call.

Anyway, as said by others, 2.0.0 has been pulled, 1.9.17 is what you'll currently get until issues with 2.0.0 are addressed and a new firmware, perhaps with the same version number, perhaps not, is released, and I'm sure there will be a thread about whatever the resulting outcome is.
