Will the Dark Line get worse?

Greetings,

I was wondering if any of the fine people on this board could tell me whether the problem that some Iliad users experienced with a line going across the bottom or top of the screen eventually worsened. This was a line of pixels, either white or black, that would appear suddenly and permanently, stretching across the device horizontally. Is it indicative of an underlying problem that will progressively worsen, or is it simply an annoying but limited defect?

iRex says that it's a display defect similar to a "line out" error on LCD screens. It should be covered under warranty if you want to get them to replace it.

Do they cover it if I am not the original owner? I'm looking at a used one that has this issue, but will not get it if it is likely to progress to the point of the device becoming unusable.

I don't know, you should probably ask them. It's a 1 year warranty, but I don't know if there is anything about it having to be the original owner. Does the seller have the original receipt?

My advice would be: take some pictures showing the problem, open a ticket on the Irex support site, describe the problem, and ask them for advice.

My Iliad had its display replaced recently because of a defect (lighter spots). I am not the frst owner and my Iliad is (a bit) older than one year. The service by Irex was great and quick. They replaced it for free.

I guess the waranty part all depends on the kind of failure you experience. Be sure to ask them about it before sending the Iliad: if it's not warranty you may still have to pay 75 euro for handling...

Good luck!
