Error Communicating with Device/Nook Glowlight 3

With apologies as I know this has been addressed elsewhere, but unfortunately not in terms I understand. I am not tech savvy, so answers in as non-technical language as possible appreciated.

After a recent Nook update, most of my side loaded files disappeared. When I try to move titles from Calibre, I get the following message and code:

calibre, version 4.8.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

[Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: u'F:\\NOOK\\Books'

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 90, in run
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 594, in _upload_books
File "site-packages\calibre\devices\usbms\driver.py", line 322, in upload_books
File "site-packages\calibre\devices\nook\driver.py", line 128, in create_upload_path
File "site-packages\calibre\devices\usbms\device.py", line 998, in create_upload_path
File "os.py", line 150, in makedirs
File "os.py", line 157, in makedirs
WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: u'F:\\NOOK\\Books'

From previous postings, I understand this is a problem with my reader and not Calibre, but I have updated to 4.8 just to make sure (obviously to no avail).

Appreciate your help. If the advice is to move on to a Kobo or Kindle, I'm open to that too. I have absolutely loved the hardware to this reader, the software has been problematic. Thanks again.

Did the drive letter change?
Can you see the target folder F:\NOOK\Books using your file explorer

It actually shows twice. Once as "This PC > NOOK (F:)" and as just "NOOK (F:)" Could this showing up twice have something to do with the issue and, if so, what would I do to fix it? Thanks.

NO
This PC is a alternate view (could be a combination of multiple physical locations)
Can you copy any file TO the Books folder (either place)?

For me: twice in the navigation panel (left sidebar) is 'normal', one within This PC and another at the same level below that. Click on This PC and you should see it in the Devices and drives section.

Thanks BetterRed, that's the same as I have.

Theducks -- I can add books to my Nook via Adobe Digital Editions if that's what you mean.
