Well, I'm behind, but I can only blame the length of the book and family health issues. Currently reading and listening to book 5 (War and Peace by Tolstoy) and about 60% done. Great story but never anticipated it would take over month to read it. I'll skip books 6 and 7 and dive right into 8 after I'm done. I'll work back to them later.

I'm one book left on this challenge. Today I finished Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire. It's the 3rd book in the Wayward Children series.

Well, alrighty!

Somewhere on the spectrum between allowable wiggle room and cheating, I've caught up. Truth be told, I fell egregiously behind this summer and when I thought about having to read four books from my challenge to get caught up this month, my heart sank. But then I had my lightbulb moment: I'd doubled/tripled up on books in the early months of the year and had in total read eight books from my StoryGraph Challenge; it's just that they were concentrated in five months. A little creative/judicious rearranging (keeping essentially to the themes for the months) and bingo! I am now on track.

If not quite to the point of the challenge, I'm content as to its greater purpose; i.e., I'm now likelier to finish it.

4/5 at The Storygraph for The Collected Short Fiction of Ngaio Marsh. The two intrductions were both interesting, one by Douglas Greene, and one by Marsh herself. That one was particularly interesting for its look at the genesis of Alleyn and Troy, and the author's relationship with both.

The stories themselves were a bit uneven, but one thing that surprised me was how prominently Marsh's homeland featured. New Zealand was a feature in the overwhelming majority of the stories, from one where the culprit gave themselves away to Alleyn by making a NZ mistake, to one named after NZ's only extant owl, the morepork (the bird later made more famous by Terry Pratchett).

A very interesting "short story" was the final entry, Marsh's contribution to the 70s TV show "Crown Court", which did not include the verdict, followed by Greene's analysis of who might have done it, and why he reached that conclusion. Overall, a satisfying way to reach 75% of the way through the MR TBR reduction challenge

Currently reading book #9 which was also my September selection - Mistworld by Simon Green. I chose this one because it was one of my few one word novels and it's been in my library since 2013 unread. I've read two other books by this author - one I 5 starred, the other 3 star so he's hit or miss for me.

I'm starting book 10 today, G. Willow Wilson's Invisible Kingdom anthology.
Due to being terribly under the weather, i got through all 400 pages of this gloriously oversized comic collection in one sitting. Lovely art and a pretty good story, even if a little on the nose.

I just finished Marsh's last Alleyn novel last month. This is still on my TBR. Might use it to fill a prompt next year.

After a judicious rearranging of my challenge books and some focused reading, I caught up and pulled ahead on the challenge; I now have two books to go. (One of them's September, though. )

Yeesh! After I finish The Calculating Stars I'll still have eight books left for the year! I'm still in August. Of course, I got overly ambitious and added four books for August and three for November...

I added 3-4 to every prompt this year, but not because I intended to read them all! I wanted to give myself variety. The prompt fills on SG if you read just one of them.

I only added four to August. There were just so many books about teachers I wanted to read. I intend to read everything I added, because looking through my list, they all still appeal to me.

I'm about to start N. Scott Momaday's Pulitzer winner House Made of Dawn for my "Indigenous" prompt fill. Ten down and two to go!
