A. I currently use the Calibre content server to transfer a book to Kybook3. When I do this it appears in the download section of the Kybook3 library. When I shut down my iPhone and restart it Kybook3 remembers my place in the book.

B. However, when I use the plugin to transfer the book to my iPhone, it is just in the Library and when I shutdown and restart my iPhone Kybook3 has forgotten my place in the book.

C. Is it possible to fit this issue?
Thank you for using the KyBook3 Sync plugin.

A. One of the reasons I wrote the plugin was because I didn't like having to keep moving books out of Downloads. :-)

B. If I shut down my iPad without shutting down KyBook3 first, that happens to me too. It also happens if I use Calibre's CS to download the book to Downloads and if I move it out of Downloads into the library. It doesn't happen if I shut down KyBook3 first. Maybe the iPhone has different behaviour---can you double check this?. What version of KyBook3 are you running?

C. I don't think so without asking the developer of KyBook3. The only 'solution' would be to shut down KyBook3 before shutting down your iPhone or setting a book mark each time you finish reading.

I have added the ability to choose which file formats are synced in the plugin's settings.
This means ONLY those file formats specified will be synced.

I'm not sure how I feel about this as you can already choose which formats to sync by filtering the formats in Calibre itself (for example, formats:"=EPUB" or formats:"=PDF" will show only epubs and pdfs which you can then select all and run the plugin on). Let me know if you have strong views on this new feature.

Edit: as ilovejedd has pointed out, the above paragraph is wrong. Without the new feature, all formats would be synced even if filtering for particular format(s) in Calibre.

BTW, the filtering in Calibre allows you to sync specific authors, publishers, ratings, or whatever using the same technique.

You're assuming one format per book record. Book records can contain multiple formats.

A search for formats:"=EPUB" will match book records that have only EPUB format as well as books that have multiple formats as long as EPUB is one of those formats (e.g. EPUB & MOBI, EPUB & AZW3, EPUB & PDF, EPUB & MOBI & PDF, etc). Without a filter in KB3 Sync preferences, it sends *all* supported formats of a given book record.

That said, instead of using the filter to directly specify formats to upload, default to all formats (e.g. * or all) and only use the filter as override.

Hi, thanks for coming back to me.

A. I have my library on my Kindle, but I only transfer the book I am currently reading to my iPhone SE incase I don't have my Kindle and so I can still read my book. So, moving a file from download isn't an issue for me.

B. I have had this issue on all versions from version 1.00. I have confirmed it again just now on 1.07 and 1.09. If I read on Kybook3, close it down by using the home button and then opening it up again, it returns to the correct place. But if I hit the home button, then close the iPhone SE down, then restart it and open KyBook3, I am at the beginning of the book and my place has been lost. Same happen if I double tap the Home button to totally close the app.

This does not happen if I use the Calibre Content Server to transfer the book to Kybook3. No matter what I do, Kybook3 always remembers my place.

Thanks again.

B. OK, I tested by shutting down KyBook3 (double tap home button then swipe KyBook3 away). I'll test it the way you're doing it.

C. Could you go into Control | Reader and set Constantly keep the reading position to ON? I think that might be a solution.

C. Using Reading Position on makes no noticeable difference. I have never had it selected before either.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

As far as I can see, KyBook3 doesn't actually support the series number (series_index). However, I could tack the number on to the end of the series name. So you'd see something like:

Harry Potter en de Steen der Wijzen
De Harry Potter serie #1
J K Rowling

"#1" could be:
  • book 1
  • 1
  • [1]
  • number 1
  • num 1

It probably could NOT be 1/6, 1 of 6, etc. as counting the total number in the series might be difficult.

Is this something you'd like added?

If you do add this, please make it an optional feature.

Appending the series index to the series name would make grouping by series a major pain. Instead a series group Harry Potter, you'd then have 7 series, one for each book: Harry Potter [1], Harry Potter [2], etc.

Good thinking, @ilovejedd. That would actually be worse than not having the index IMO.

So, I guess we could add something "#1 of a series"?? to title, subtitle, or annotation. Subtitle probably makes most sense as Calibre doesn't have that field.

@nimapourkarimi what do you think?

I can't reproduce this. Can you do a video screen capture showing the error, save to dropbox, then PM me the link? Thanks

If I add an epub to kybook3 without your plugin for example via calibre's content server the series numbers are visible. And contrary to what you said, I think Kybook supports series number. here's a screenshot of series edit menu: https://ibb.co/1m1FNRZ
