It's currently 7° F
Thankfully it is no longer snowing. We have enough of it from yesterday. |

From today it's going to cool down. This morning there'll be some showers, this afternoon those might turn into (wet) snow and hail. And there's even a chance of thunder. The next couple of days will be cold(er) but dry and occasionally sunny.

It was and I did.
It has rained, drizzled and hailed. For a short time wet snow was falling. Which was more wet than snow, but I can say it snowed during my vacation. More rain/hail/snow is on its way, since it has cooled down now the sun's gone it might be proper snow. So I'm going to light a fire soon and watch a film. |

They're predicting the snowpocalypse in my area for the weekend. But it will end up being considerably less snow than most weather services are predicting. It almost always is. I'm prepared regardless.

Hot, really hot.
Australia's highest ever overnight minimum was recorded last night, 36C (97F). Not in Sydney, 600+km west of here. But, even at 10PM it is still 33C (91F) on my verandah. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 01-18-2019 at 06:24 AM. |

From today it's going to be cold for a while, -4C at the moment, but daytime temperatures will be between 0C and 3C for at least the coming week, possibly longer. Today will be mostly cloudy with occasionally sun. Tomorrow will be really sunny. And for Tuesday they're predicting several centimeters of snow, even if less will fall the country will come to a stop; problems on the road, rail and air travel.

They insist that 9 - 12" of snow are on the way between now and 10am tomorrow. We'll see. I remain skeptical.

10" to 14" of snow on its way here, along with very low temps by tomorrow. The cancellation list is growing.

The storm that's barreling across the US should hit us late tonight. At first we were getting predictions of up to 12 inches of snow, followed by up to 0.25 inches of freezing rain, then a drop to near 0° (F). Fortunately, it looks like we'll be getting some warm air in the mix. The latest forecast calls for only an inch or so of snow, followed by heavy rains. The temperature is still expected to drop to 4°, but only after the rain stops.
So, just lousy weather instead of a catastrophe. Today, so far, the temps were in the 30s and the sky was overcast. Locally, the sunset was officially 5:00. |

Well, at least we had clear skies for the lunar eclipse. It was too cold (10° F), and the wind was roaring through the trees like a freight train, so I didn't stay outside for the whole show, but I did dash out at times and got some good views.
