They're out! Here are the February 2018 Samsung Book Deals selections, from the Kindle store (in the order in which Amazon presented them). I've also posted each selection's series (if any), Amazon rank, and genre(s).

Highlander Betrayed
(Guardians of the Targe Book 1), by Laurin Wittig
(normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #26,268 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#234 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Romance > Historical Romance > Scottish
#284 in Books > Romance > Historical > Scottish
#855 in Books > Romance > Fantasy
Quote:
Hidden deep in the rugged Scottish Highlands lies the Highland Targe, an ancient relic guarded for centuries by clan MacAlpin. It is said the Targe can shield the heart of the Highlands from invaders and now, as part of his plan to crush the Scottish rebellion, the English king wants the Targe for himself...

Rowan MacGregor, orphaned niece to the chief of the MacAlpins and the rock her family depends upon, is worried. With the dwindling health of her aunt, the Guardian of the Targe, the protections that have kept the clan safe and prosperous are fading, and the new Guardian, one of her cousins, has yet to be chosen. Rowan wants nothing more than to see the clan protected again, but when it seems that will never happen, she despairs—even when a handsome and charming stranger comes to her aid.

Nicholas fitz Hugh is not what he seems. Half-English, half-Scottish, he turned his back on his Scottish heritage early in his life, giving his loyalty to England instead. Now he is a talented and cunning spy charged with finding and stealing the Highland Targe for his king.

But when Nicholas finds himself falling for the bonny Rowan and wanting to protect the family she holds so dear, he is forced to choose between his king’s will and his own: Will he betray his king and his mission? Or will he turn his back on the woman he has come to love?
Reliquary (Reliquary Series Book 1), by Sarah Fine (normally $4.99)

#962 in Books > Romance > Fantasy
Quote:
Mattie Carver’s engagement party should have marked the start of her own personal fairy tale. But when her fiancé, Ben, is violently abducted the next morning, her desperate quest to find him rips her away from small-town life and reveals a shattering truth: magic is real—and Ben is hooked. It’s not the stuff of storybooks. It’s wildly addictive, capable of producing everything from hellish anguish to sensual ecstasy almost beyond human endurance.

Determined to find out who took Ben and why, Mattie immerses herself in a shadowy underworld and comes face-to-face with the darkly alluring Asa Ward, a rogue magic dealer, infamous hustler…and her missing fiancé’s estranged brother. Asa has the power to sense magic, and he realizes Mattie is a reliquary, someone with the rare ability to carry magic within her own body, undetected. Asa agrees to help find Ben on one condition: Mattie must use her uncommon talent to assist his smuggling operations. Now, from magic-laced Vegas casinos to the netherworld clubs of Bangkok, Mattie is on a rescue mission. With Asa by her side, she’ll face not only the supernatural forces arrayed against her but the all-too-human temptation that she fears she can’t resist.
The Night Crew (Sean Drummond, #7), by Brian Haig (normally $5.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #63,370 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#446 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers > Legal
#499 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers > Military
#1012 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Military
Quote:
Lieutenant Colonel Sean Drummond, a cocky US Army lawyer who’s not afraid to be blunt, finds himself up to his neck in a case he didn’t ask to take.

Five US soldiers, tasked with guarding Iraqi prisoners, stand accused of committing depraved atrocities against their charges. Drummond is assigned to defend one of them: a hardscrabble young woman who is either incredibly naive or deceptively evil…and whose incriminating photos made the case an international scandal.

Drummond and his cocounsel, the fiercely antiwar Katherine Carlson, have a complicated and combative history, but they can’t afford to get distracted now. They must determine what drove five young patriots to fall so far to the dark side of human nature. As Drummond uncovers evidence that his client has been used as a pawn in a secret strategy involving torture, he realizes that he’s caught up in a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of government. Breaking down the US military’s formidable stonewalling could destabilize the government and put his life at risk—but Drummond’s not the type to back away from a good fight.
Finding Libbie, by Deanna Lynn Sletten (normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #19,370 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#530 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Women's Fiction > Domestic Life
#584 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Family Life
#772 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Family Life
Quote:
Poring over a dusty hatbox of photographs in her grandmother’s closet, Emily Prentice is shocked to discover her father was married to his high school sweetheart before meeting her mother.

In the summer of 1968, Jack and Libbie fall in love under the spell of their small town, untouched by the chaos of the late sixties. Though Libbie’s well-to-do parents disapprove of Jack’s humble family and his aspiration to become a mechanic, she marries Jack a year after they graduate high school. But soon their happiness crumbles as Libbie’s mental state unravels and she is drawn to alcohol and drugs. Despite his efforts to help her, Jack loses the woman he loves and is forced to move on with his life.

Now that Emily’s mother has passed away, Jack is alone again, and Emily grows obsessed with the beautiful woman who had given her father such joy. Determined to find Libbie, Emily pieces together the couple’s fragmented past. But is it too late for happy endings?

They're out! Here are the March 2018 Samsung Book Deals selections, from the Kindle store (in the order in which Amazon presented them). I've also posted each selection's series (if any), Amazon rank, and genre(s). [If interested in audiobook versions of these books, check out tubemonkey's Audiobooks post (today at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...49&page=183).]

The Wedding Shroud (A Tale of Ancient Rome Book 1), by Elisabeth Storrs (normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #45,797 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

#41 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Historical Fiction > Italian
#84 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Literary Fiction > Biographical
#115 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Romance > Historical Romance > Ancient World

Quote:
“All the drama and sensuality expected of a historical romance, plus a sensitivity to the realities of life in a very different time and world.” —Ursula Le Guin

In 406 BC, to seal a tenuous truce, the young Roman Caecilia is wedded to Vel Mastarna, an Etruscan nobleman from Veii. Leaving her militaristic homeland, Caecilia is determined to remain true to Roman virtues while living among the sinful Etruscans. But, despite her best intentions, she is seduced by a culture that offers women education, independence, sexual freedom, and an empowering religion.

Enchanted by Veii but terrified of losing ties to Rome, Caecilia performs rites to delay becoming a mother, thereby postponing true entanglement. Yet as she develops an unexpected love for Mastarna, she’s torn between her birthplace and the city in which she now lives. As war looms, Caecilia discovers Fate is not so easy to control, and she must choose where her allegiance lies.

The Wedding Shroud is the first book in the Tales of Ancient Rome saga. Subsequent books in the series include The Golden Dice and Call to Juno.
Escaping Vegas (The Inheritance Book 1) (Sean Drummond, #7), by Danielle Bourdon (normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #36,085 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

#375 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Mystery > International Mystery & Crime
#380 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Women's Adventure

Quote:
After Madalina Maitland receives a small inheritance from her grandfather—$1,300 and a little knickknack shaped like a Chinese dragon—she heads to Vegas for a much-needed vacation. All she wants to do is to win some cash, enjoy some drinks, and flirt with the sexy stranger she literally stumbles into at the roulette table. But little does she know that her luck is about to change…in a deadly way.

When Chinese assailants attempt to kidnap Madalina from the casino, her broad-shouldered roulette partner comes to her rescue. A tall, dark, and handsome private security specialist, Cole West just met Madalina, but he’s instantly driven to protect the feisty, fashionable beauty.

Now, Madalina and Cole must discover who is after her—and why. Catapulted down a perilous path of danger and deception, their building passion soon threatens to dissolve into distrust. Will they be torn apart just when they need each other the most?
The Righteous (Righteous Series), by Michael Wallace (normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #47,757 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

#351 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Mystery > Series

Quote:
Deep in the Utah desert, the small polygamous community of Blister Creek has a history of protecting its own. Even when a young woman is brutally murdered just blocks from her home, the residents of the conservative enclave close ranks. But just because they don’t want outside law enforcement in their business doesn’t mean the murder will go unpunished. More than a thousand miles away, Jacob Christianson, a medical student and son of a devout church elder, learns of his cousin Amanda’s murder. Though Jacob is skeptical of many of the community’s fundamentalist beliefs, his sharply analytical mind and family connection to the victim earns him the assignment of investigator into Amanda’s death. Jacob heads to Blister Creek, accompanied by his inquisitive younger sister, Eliza, to probe the bizarre circumstances of their cousin’s violent death. It doesn’t take long for the pair to realize that Amanda’s murder was no random act; rather, it is part of a covert plot to overthrow the church’s leaders. Chilling and engrossing, The Righteous has been hailed as a “first rate suspense thriller,” a tightly plotted novel about the dark secrets hiding behind the veil of religion.

Mercury Falls (Mercury Series), by Robert Kroese (normally $3.99)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #49,164 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

#74 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Humorous
#333 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Contemporary Fiction > Fantasy
#709 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Humor & Satire > General Humor

Quote:
While on assignment in Utah, Christine Temetri isn’t surprised when yet another prophesied Apocalypse fails to occur. After three years of reporting on End Times cults for a religious news magazine, Christine is seriously questioning her career choice. But then she meets Mercury, a cult leader whose knowledge of the impending Apocalypse is decidedly more solid than most: he is an angel, sent from heaven to prepare for the Second Coming but distracted by beer, ping pong, and other earthly delights. After Christine and Mercury inadvertently save Karl Grissom—a film-school dropout and the newly appointed Antichrist—from assassination, she realizes the three of them are all that stand in the way of mankind’s utter annihilation. They are a motley crew compared to the heavenly host bent on earth’s destruction, but Christine figures they’ll just have to do. Full of memorable characters, Mercury Falls is an absurdly funny tale about unlikely heroes on a quest to save the world.

I went with Mercury Falls. I doubt it'll be up to the level of Good Omens, but it sounds a bit similar plot-wise. It has four sequels though, so I hope it's actually a self-contained story and not just 20% of one.
