That is one over-reaching bunch of bureaucrats slapped down. Now to see the same logic of territorial limits applied to "the right to be forgotten". Borders exist for a reason. They should be respected. |

Good; about time!
If the feds want data stored in Ireland, then they should petition the Irish courts for it. And if they so no, then tough luck. |

It wasn't clear to me from the article whose emails were being stored on Irish servers. If they belong to people residing in the USA, then I suspect we'll soon see new laws similar to those recently enacted in Russia and Turkey, requiring that all servers be located within the country. So, if you want to be safe from government intrusion, you better fix that at the source rather than rely on legal loopholes to dodge the ones who make the laws.

It's not that fans are not needed. It is that fans in a vacuum are useless.Waste heat has to be conducted away, then radiated. Radiation is very inefficient at temperatures that CPUs can tolerate. Keeping CPUs in space cool is way more involved than keeping them out of the Sun, which isn't a problem anyway, because the box they are in does that.

A bit longer than it'll take to put them under the sea (which Microsoft is doing right now) in international waters.
There's good technical reasons for going underwater. And now even better ones to go beyond territorial waters. |
