Clip Editor for ABBYY Finereader
I do a fair bit of editing while using Finereader OCR software (Win 10) and find I'm often replacing the same characters, ' or " or ! for I
I've looked at clipclip and other editors, but whenever I paste a clip into finereader it always has a carriage return added to it, even when using Ctrl Shift V Anyone got any suggestions for a way around the carriage return please? Have a look at Clipboard Fusion's macro facility, they are written in C# or VB, there are many user contributed macros, something might already exist.

Had a look at Clipboard Fusion and it seems a really useful tool, but it doesn't solve the problem.
It looks as though the problem is Finereader. Anything that gets copied and pasted within the program is fine, anything from outside the program has a carriage return added Thanks for the help though Last edited by dearleuk; 03-07-2025 at 10:09 AM. |

What many Finereader users do is save its output to a WP format, e.g. DOCX or ODT and then use Word or LO Writer to iron out the wrinkles from the OCR scanning. Word has a couple of useful addins for doing that:

Thanks for this, I'll give it a try, but of the reasons I like editing in Finereader is you can see the scanned text on the same screen as the OCR text and so easy to compare

Apart from lodging a support ticket to ABBYY I'm out of ideas.
Except: Contact @pdurrant and ask him to change the thread title to "Clip Editor for ABBYY Finereader". It might get the attention of people who do or have used it. BR |

Have you tried using a plain text editor like Notepad to strip out any formatting before pasting into Finereader? Sometimes that helps get rid of unwanted carriage returns.
