After going back up in price many/most/all/??? of these titles are back down to between $1.99 and $3.99 at Kindle US. New link is needed since the sale price range is a little wider this time...

Too many titles and too little time for me to list them all, but if you are missing a title by Brand, chances are pretty good it's on sale today. So far, this doesn't seem to be matched at Kobo US, but I'm including a Kobo link too for price check purposes.

Snow White and Rose Red is the 5th in the Matthew Hope series by Ed McBain. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Snow-White-Ro...dp/B005WZZUKI/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Sarah Whittaker is a green-eyed beauty with a love for Danny Kaye and white knights. Lawyer Matthew Hope can see all this clearly, despite the fact that whenever they meet the two are under constant surveillance by the mental institution staff. You see, Sarah’s crazy…or is she? Sarah pleads with Matthew to take her case, claiming that her mother wrongfully had Sarah committed in order to seize her inheritance money. And while the mother and doctors in question seem shady, almost cloying in their belief that Sarah is a paranoid schizophrenic, Matthew can’t tell day from night, or Rose Red from Snow White. Meanwhile, the corpse of a woman about Sarah’s age washes ashore in a town nearby. Is there a connection? Is Sarah Whittaker really pure as snow? Is she the Virgin Queen she says she is? It’s up to Matthew to find out.

In Ed McBain’s Snow White and Rose Red, Matthew Hope plunges into the noir, twisted world of the most complicated of mysteries—the human mind.

Chiefs is the first in the Will Lee series by Stuart Woods. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Chiefs-Novel-...dp/B0070ZCA9C/

Spoiler:
Quote:
The Edgar Award-winning mystery that launched the career of bestselling novelist Stuart Woods.

In the bitter winter of 1920, the first body is found in Delano, Georgia; the naked corpse of an unidentified teenager. There is no direct evidence of murder, but the body bears marks of what seems to be a ritual beating. The investigation falls to Will Henry Lee, a failed cotton farmer newly appointed as Delano's first chief of police. Lee's obsession with the crime begins a story that weaves through the decades, following the life of a small southern town and the role of three police chiefs in unraveling the crime.

Chiefs is the best kind of thriller, where the investigation plays out against the drama beneath the surface of a seemingly placid community, seething with the pressures of race, love, hate, and; always; political power, extending from the town fathers all the way to Washington, DC.

Includes a new foreword by the author on the twenty-fifth anniversary of its publication.

Rolling Thunder, by Chris Grabenstein is $1.99 today only. It's the 6th book in the John Ceepak Mysteries. I got the notice from Open Road Media's Early Bird Books email, so the price is good for today only, but should be good at most major retailers.

Here's the link for Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Rolling-Thund...dp/B007RJ9J1S/

Description:

There’s more fireworks down the Jersey Shore in Chris Grabenstein’s sixth fast-paced John Ceepak mystery.

A prominent citizen suffers a heart attack on the opening day of a brand-new boardwalk roller coaster in the seedy seaside resort town Sea Haven, New Jersey. Initially ruled a tragic accident, it isn’t long before there are suspicious hints of foul play—especially after the corpse of a stunning young beach beauty is discovered.

Fortunately for mystery lovers, the straight-arrow cop John Ceepak and his wisecracking young partner Danny Boyle are on the case, a detective/sidekick duo critics have compared to Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin.

The first book in the series, Tilt-a-Whirl, seems to be permanently set at $0.99.

https://www.amazon.com/Tilt-Whirl-Jo...dp/B004QO9YI0/

I've read the series, and enjoyed them very much.

The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax is the second in the very very cozy (although every now and then with a little bite) Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorothy Gilman. I read this series back in DTB days and enjoyed it (when in the mood for cozy). The titles in this series don't go on sale very often, however Amazing has just dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Mrs-P...dp/B00K4C4GXQ/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...g-mrs-pollifax

Spoiler:
Quote:
When Emily Pollifax answers the phone that Sunday morning, she quickly forgets all about her Garden Club tea that afternoon. For the voice on the other end belonged to a man she had never seen, a man from the CIA who asked her if she could leave immediately on a mission that would take her halfway across the world! What could Mrs. Pollifax say but yes?

A number of Aaron Elkins titles from his Gideon Oliver and Chris Norgren series, and also some non-series titles, have dropped in price to between $2.99 and $3.99 at Kindle US. The link also picks up a few titles in the Lee Ofsted series that he wrote with his wife, Charlotte, that are long-term priced in this range; and also a new non-series title available for pre-order.

Almost all of the Rabbi Small books by Harry Kemelman have dropped to between $1.99 and $2.99 at Kindle US, and a few at Kobo US. This also includes Kemelman's Nicky Welt short story collection, and also Conversations with Rabbi Small, which (to me, at least) is not a mystery, but is integrated with the Rabbi Small series, and (IMO) well worth reading.

Double for Blackshirt is the 8th in the Blackshirt series by Roderic Jeffries. It is free right now at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Double-Blacks...dp/B0796S9DJ2/

Spoiler:
Quote:
The eighth book in the Blackshirt series, Double for Blackshirt is a fast-paced and gripping mystery.

The irrepressible Blackshirt’s past reputation as a cracksman is well-known to the police. When a Judge is murdered at the time Blackshirt is taking too close an interest in his collection of snuff-boxes, the police are reluctant to name Blackshirt as the killer. Blackshirt knew that to fight was to risk disaster; he gave battle; the police closed in; the killer prepared for the last strike—and only Blackshirt’s daring lay between him and death or capture.

Roderic Jeffries was born in London in 1926. In 1943 he went to sea with the New Zealand Shipping Company and returned to England in 1949 where he practiced law before starting to write full time. His books have been adapted for film, television, and radio. His father, Graham Jeffries (pseudonym Bruce Graeme), began the Blackshirt series in 1925.

Aunty Lee's Delights is the first in the Aunty Lee series by Ovidia Yu. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. This is a pretty cozy series, but I like it a lot - I find it a lot of fun.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Aunty-Lees-De...dp/B00BATKQRC/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/aunty-lee-s-delights

Spoiler:
Quote:
This delectable and witty mystery introduces Rosie "Aunty" Lee, feisty widow, amateur sleuth, and proprietor of Singapore's best-loved home-cooking restaurant

After losing her husband, Rosie Lee could have become one of Singapore's "tai tai," an idle rich lady. Instead she is building a culinary empire from her restaurant, Aunty Lee's Delights, where spicy Singaporean meals are graciously served to locals and tourists alike. But when a body is found in one of Singapore's tourist havens and one of her guests fails to show at a dinner party, Aunty Lee knows that the two events are likely connected.

The murder and disappearance throws together Aunty Lee's henpecked stepson, Mark, his social-climbing wife, Selina, a gay couple whose love is still illegal in Singapore, and an elderly Australian tourist couple whose visit may mask a deeper purpose. Investigating the murder are Police Commissioner Raja and Senior Staff Sergeant Salim, who quickly discover that Aunty Lee's sharp nose for intrigue can sniff out clues that elude law enforcers.

Wise, witty, and charming, Aunty Lee's Delights is a spicy mystery about love, friendship, and food in Singapore, where money flows freely and people of many religions and ethnicities coexist peacefully, but where tensions lurk just below the surface, sometimes with deadly consequences.

The Manx Murders is the 3rd in the Niccolo Benedetti series by William L. DeAndrea. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable).

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Manx-Murders-...dp/B00AEGIGD8/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-manx-murders

Spoiler:
Quote:
Niccolo Benedetti takes on the mysterious case of two battling industrialist twins

In Harville, Pennsylvania, two brothers are sparring. A common enough occurrence, but these ones happen to be elderly, twins, and industrialist millionaires. The two have feuded for years over all sorts of issues, including a woman they both loved. Now Henry Pembroke has built a bird sanctuary, while his twin brother, Clyde, has decided to breed Manx cats. Henry argues that Clyde’s cats will kill his birds, and in an attempt for revenge, he blocks a new air-cleaning device that Clyde wants to produce.

After nearly a lifetime of fighting, the brothers call on renowned Italian detective—and larger-than-life artist-philosopher—Niccolo Benedetti, together with private investigator partner Ron Gentry, to help solve their differences. But what begins as a property dispute takes a lethal turn when one of the brothers is kidnapped and a secretary is murdered. In this quiet town, Benedetti, a lifelong student of evil, suddenly has more than enough to study.
