John Bolton's The Room Where It Happened, if it ever sees the light of day--just read it's been pushed back till May since the White House is still sitting on it.
(I absolutely will not buy it; I have it on hold at my library.) |

I understand the curiosity but I am honestly reading to escape all that these days.
Let me add The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel to my list. |

I loved Wolf Hall, found Bring up the Bodies a tremendous let down, and am hoping that with The Mirror & the Light, Hilary Mantel is back up to the form of the first in her Cromwell trilogy. It’ll be out a week from today; I “recommended” it to one of my OverDrive libraries, which will put it on my holds. I’m hopeful I’ll be near the top of the waitlist.

The Last Druid by Terry Brooks - the end of the Shannara series.
Peace Talks - Jim Butcher; just because I've been waiting for another book for 4-5 years. |

Hum, Jerry Pournelle's final novel, the long rumored Mamelukes, book 4 of the Janissaries series is coming out in June. The last Janissaries book, Storm of Victory came out some 33 years ago.

The books I am, at the moment, most looking forward to receiving and reading are these:
Nonfiction The Sword and the Shield: The Revolutionary Lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. by Peniel E. Joseph Europe Against the Jews, 1880-1945 by Gotz Ally America on Trial: A Defense of the Founding by Robert Reilly Fiction Shorefall by Robert Jackson Bennett The Girl and the Stars by Mark Lawrence Critical Point by S.L. Huang I have each of the above books on preorder (along with about 45 other books). I find that there are far too many books that I want to read. My TBR pile (all hardcovers, I stopped buying ebooks several years ago) is now at more than 100 books. |

I've become a fan of Ottessa Mossfegh since reading her novel My Year of Rest and Relaxation a few months ago. The author's next book Death in Her Hands is due out at the end of next month, after having been pushed back a bit. Will buy a copy right away, even though I could wait a few weeks (more like months) for a library hold to become available.

For clarity: I understand it to be the chronological "end" of the Shannara series. I don't know if he has any current plans to do so yet, but he's purposely (in several interviews) left the door open for prequels and other chronological gap fillers in the Shannara saga to be written.
