Troubles searching text in files

Hello,

I cannot find informations, not even in the user manual, on how to search for precise words in a text using the search box.
As an example, if i search for the precise single word "mana", it comes up with every word that contains the word as "managing".
Can you help? Thank you.

Thank you DivingDuck, but i have still a problem.

I doesn't work if i want to find the word in an entire book because it wants that i highlight the precise section where the word is included. If i do highlitght the first page of the book, it cannot find any word.
I'm wondering why a simple "advanced search" box is not included, searching is a main use of this software.

Because the viewers search capabilities are limited to what is provided by brower APIs. And browsers do not provide any advanced searching abilities.

If you want to search the content of books, you may be better off using 3rd party index based search tool - e.g Windows Search, Spotlight, Docfetcher, Recoll, X1 etc.

The list of files from the Windows based tools can be dropped into the Drop Search Results plugin and from there its easy to create reading lists, do bulk edits to add a tag etc. I'm not sure of DSR works with file lists from MACOS and Linux search tools.

Content search for calibre is on Kovid Goyal's To Do list

Thank you everybody for your kind collaboration, got the reason of the issue.

I'm left with a conversion of the file in pdf to do proper content search and quit Calibre as appropriate study tool then.... sad.

I do really hope the issue is high on the list, anyone who uses ebooks for research and study knows that one of the major advantage of using ebook is to do fast search on content and avoid to read an entire book. With the huge availability of pubblications in our age, ther's no other options than use such an approach.

Sorry, me mistake. I didn't recognize that you are searching content within a books.

I too use external tools, mainly Windows search and Total commander. But the tools are limited to file formats they can process.

@Maxwell61 - What OS are you using? And what format is your book?

If Windows and ePub, see Content Search EPUB

Otherwise if you answer my two questions and I'll try to give you some suggestions.

Hi BetterRed, i'm using Win 10 and the files i've got the problem are AZW and epub.
I've seen your post, perhaps i should try for the epub, even if i'm happy with a search in a single book rather than an entire library.

@Maxwell61 - OK, I suggest you take a look at Docfetcher, it does EPUB out of the box. It may even do AZW3 out of the box. IIRC MR member DrChiper uses DocFetcher, so you might want to touch base with him.

If that doesn't suit then Windows Search with the Epub IFilter from Zabkat.
