All Big Six Publishers Now Selling E-Books To Libraries

http://www.nypl.org/press/press-rele...%20%28Quote%29

Quote:
MAY 1, 2013: The New York Public Library's campaign to bring greater e-book access to Library patrons in New York and around the nation has gained great momentum over the past few months. Recently, Simon & Schuster became the fifth of the Big Six publishers to join the fray, lending ebooks to our users. Today, Hachette has joined as well; meaning we now have the full participation of the nation's largest publishers.

As alluded to in the above links, some publishers still seem to offer few titles at prices the libraries can afford. Searching at the Brooklyn Public Library, I am finding just two Simon and Schuster titles via Overdrive, and seventeen via 3M. Here are the seventeen:

Thanks for posting this. I knew about Hachette and I did notice the S&S titles via 3M.

Macmillan is included in this big six, right? I don't see any sign of their ebooks at Overdrive or 3M.

I don't believe so either but since the title states "all big six publishers ...", I thought I'd missed out on something somewhere.

Macmillan announced a pilot program back in January, with restricted lending of a few titles from their Minotaur imprint.

I hope this is not just limited to New York and Brooklyn Libraries.

Hatchette eBooks are supposed to be available on the 8th (Today). So where are they?

Having them available for libraries to buy from today doesn't necessarily imply that every library in the world has instantly rushed out to buy them.

I know they don't have to have been bought just yet, but Hatchette is not part of the list of publishers in the advanced search. All there is is Hatchette Audio and Hatchette Audiobooks.

All of Hachette's imprints, except Yen Press, are in the OverDrive advanced search (I assume that's what you were referring to).

Center Street
FaithWords
Grand Central Publishing
Hachette Children's
Hachette Audio
Hachette Audiobooks
Little Brown & Company
Little Brown Young Readers
Orbit

I was looking for just Hatchette which I would have expected to be there.

Isn't it true that one or two of these will only sell to 3M, which is only in two libraries? That's barely a token attempt to sell to libraries.

It's in a lot more than two libraries.
