add - book from Viewer ....

Dear friends of Calibre,

thanks to Covid - i had lots of time for reading, and there is one thing that I would like to ask, from a usability perspective.

I read quite a lot of books that i preview inside the viewer before decide to add them into my libraries, saying this I use the ebook-viewer from calibre for this with direct file association.

Point is that if I preview the file and did a diagonal read and i want to decide to add, I have to go back to ~/Download folder to add that specific file or use Calibre.

So long story short: can we add a button in the reader / Menu point

[ Add current book to calibre ]

to prevent the mentioned double searching ?

\Pete

If you use the standalone viewer it is completely independent from main calibre so cannot really add books to the library. Instead I suggest you simply add the books you want to preview to calibre, preview them and then delete if you dont want to keep them.

If you don't want to clutter your Normal library add the books to a Preview library.

Then, if after previewing a book you decide its a 'keeper', move it to the Normal library using the Copy (delete after copy) option, otherwise delete it.
