Text getting cut off?

Text in italics in this book seems to be getting pushed to the left and therefore being cut off. https://i.imgur.com/dAXdTUk.png

It happens in both paged mode and flow mode. But at least in paged mode, I can read *some* of the text when the italic lines are in the 2nd or 3rd column. https://i.imgur.com/i5iwGCn.png

But that still doesn't fix the issue. Especially since if the italics show up on the first page of a chapter, they get cut off without any hope of seeing it even in paged view: https://i.imgur.com/zxenbd6.png

Is there any way to fix this?

Bad CSS would be my guess.

You could try using Calibre's converter and convert it to a different format (e.g., if it's EPUB convert to AZW3, or vice versa) and see how that comes out. In the Convert dialog box is the section Look & feel and in its Styling tab try checking the boxes Margins as well as Padding in the "Select what style information you want completely removed" part.

The book will be using some non-reflowable markup, a table or a large negative indent or similar. As hobnail suggested you can try doing aconversion from epub to wpub that sometime fixes these kinds of issues automatically.

I tried converting the EPUB to AZW3. Same problem occurs.

Even checking Margins and Padding does nothing.

What is "wpub"? I don't see that option anywhere...

The normal text

has this code in inspector:

Whereas the italic text

The only difference is apparently that normal text is C19 while the italic text is C16. Is there a way to convert C16 to C19 with Calibre?

I could also send you the file in some way if you think that would be helpful...

wpub was atypo, I meant epub. And look at the definition of the C16 and C19 classes, and you will see the problem. You can fix it by editing the book using the calibre edit book tool.
