Hannegan's Cove schwächelte auch ein wenig, war aber aufgrund des Konfliktes in der Story schon unterhaltsamer und spannender, auch wenn die Geschichte ein wenig zu vorhersehbar war. Das kann aber auch daran liegen, dass die Charaktere weitgehend alte Bekannte waren. Hier fehlt meiner Meinung nach ein wenig frisches Blut. |

Ich lese zur Zeit The Blinding Knife von Brent Weeks. |

Mit Meissner sollte man es sehr genau nehmen und es sich keinesfalls zu einfach machen!

Mal ganz untypisch für mich lese ich gerade ein Sachbuch: Daniel Kahnemans Thinking, Fast and Slow. Das Buch ist spannend, lehrreich, in einem lockeren Stil geschrieben und extrem zugänglich, wenn man bedenkt, dass hier zum großen Teil Themen behandelt werden, die aktueller Forschungsstand in der Psychologie sind. Ich fühle mich jedenfalls hervorragend unterhalten. :-)
Das Buch ist ein absolutes Muss für alle, die genauer wissen wollen, wie und warum Menschen nicht rational sind, und auf welche Weisen uns unsere Intuition bei all ihren Vorteilen doch oftmals systematisch in die Irre führt. Und das auch bei Dingen, bei denen man das so ohne weiteres nicht erwarten würde. Unbedingt empfehlenswert! |

Midst Toil and Tribulation, Band sechs der Safehold-Reihe von David Weber.
Habe bisher etwa 1/4 durch und es lässt sich gut an, bisher viel Politik und wenig Action aber ich erwarte noch eine deutliche Steigerung zum Ende hin. Einzige Frage bleibt wo die Reihe hinsteuert. Wenn er in dem Tempo (Storyentwicklung, nicht Schreibgeschwindigkeit) weiterschreibt braucht er noch 100 Bände bis ein Ende in Sicht ist. |

Giovanni's Room von James Baldwin.
In Irvings In One Person ist davon immer die Rede gewesen, und der arme Protagonist hielt das Buch seinerzeit ja quasi in den Händen, als er auf dem klapprigen Kellerbett von dieser bösen, bösen Bibliothekarin verführt wurde.. (Naja, "verführt" ist schon sehr euphemistisch ausgedrückt, aber es lesen ja auch Damen mit, die ich nicht schockieren möchte..) Ich verstehe gar nicht worum es genau geht bei Baldwin, aber es ist ein Vorwort dabei, in dem mir erklärt wird, dass es irgendwie um die Emanzipation von Afro-Amerikanern gehen soll. (in Paris ?) Also das ist so ein netter, unschuldiger Herr, David (wie der in der Bibel, man erinnert sich..), und der wird von seiner bösen Freundin verlassen, woraufhin er sich der Edel-Erotik zuwendet und einen freundlichen italienischen Kellner, Giovanni, zum Gefährten wählt. Das macht man eben so als Schriftsteller in Paris, da muss man sich nun nichts besonderes bei denken. Den Göttern sei Dank ist das nun nicht so lang wie John Irving, mein Lesegerät sagt, es seien nur 150 Seiten (in seiner Fantasieseitenzählung), Irving brachte es auf 650 Seiten. |

Kennt irgendeiner weitere Krimi- und/oder Detektivbücher für Kinder um die 8 - mal abgesehen von den 3 ??? und den 5 Freunden? Gibt's außerdem irgendeine schöne Fantasy-Reihe ab 8? Das Ganze im Idealfall bitte mit grooooooßen Buchstaben und vieeeelen Bildern. Ja, wir sind kompliziert |
