Troubles with Caltrash

I own a large number of e-books. If I put them in caliber, not only all books are put in caliber, but all books are also put in the caltrash folder. I never had this before
caliber then contains 21.1 GB of storage and 11.5 GB of that is in the caltrash folder. my question is how do I stop writing this to Caltrash or is there a version of Caliber that doesn't have this part yet

In order to allow your post to be found in a search, cailber is incorrect. The correct name is calibre.

1) You can set Calibre Trash to auto-empty items more than "x" days old.

2) You can set Calibre to empty the folder on exit.

The reason for it is that system trash (previous system) didn't store database information, so a restore didn't work.

Yes, older ones. like 5.44, But instead they always put deleted files in system trash, and that can't be controlled as in current Calibre 6.25. The older ones are on the main website.

So the current Calibre is better as it doesn't use system trash and has caltrash settings.

The delete after X days is option on "Remove Books" > "Restore Recently deleted books", "Permanently delete after [11 days]" offers On Close if you spin it down less than 1.

I have it at 11 days.

On Close means "Delete when really closed" not in Tray or whatever.

calibre 6.15.1 is the latest version that does not have the new calibre trash.

What OS are you running? What AV are you running?

If it's Windows, try rebooting in safe mode and see if you can get the trash to work.

Also, disable your AV just in case.

Could it be that was the older stuff exists in trash. You might need to empty that manually. The empty rule change might apply only to newer stuff (after the setting changes)

As I read this, after you add a book to a library you see a copy in the calibre library… e.g. in the folder MyBooks/Fred Bloggs/Tall Tales 123, and another copy in calibre trash… e.g. in the folder MyBooks/.caltrash/b/123.

If that's the case, can you try restarting calibre with no plugins (there's an option in the Preferences drop down menu) and then adding a book.

Also - which OS and version are you running?
