Kobo Update Failure "Connection Error"
DO NOT factory reset your Vox if you get a connection error when you try to download the update. This is happening to several people and Kobo support has INCORRECTLY told someone to do a factory reset. This is likely a Kobo server issue. WAIT to download the update...

Why NOT do a factory reset? Looks like that's what I'm going to have to do to fix my "Loading ..." problem.
Given Kobo's history of taking a week to for folks to successfully download the Users Guide on initial ship it could be a long while to fix the 40% problem. |

This isn't a significant update...I think it would be easier to just wait. But everyone is entitled to do what they want...I thought a warning to those who don't want headaches was a nice thing to do...
How did your update go after your factory reset, Tony? |

I think the problem with the factory reset is that you have to go through the setup process again, and the setup process will look for an update. If you don't have the most recent update, it may get stuck because you won't be able to download the full update. So pokee's advice is good.
Since a factory reset also resets the ADB settings, there is no way to get around this short of waiting for the update problem to be solved (or waiting for someone else to create a solution that would ultimately involve disassembling the unit to remove the internal SD card). |
