there a several Sony Reader variants with different resolutions (up to 1200 x 825 (SVGA)).

Does anybody knows more about that?

Hi joblack, the E Ink page you linked to has the specs of the new E Ink Vizplex panels (which are available in different sizes, including 9.7" 1200 x 825). It has nothing to do with the Sony Reader really. True, the Sony Reader uses E Ink, but it's an older generation (non-Vizplex) which was only available at 800x600 at that time.

I think what you were seeing were the resolutions of the images that they had for downloading that could be used by newspapers and magazines that wished to run stories on the Sony Reader rather than resolutions that the Sony Reader itself supported.
