Kindle for Android Coming Soon!

They really are trying to reach out and put a Kindle app on everything..... why is it people complain that they can only read their books on a Kindle, again?

I can just imagine Kindle for Android loaded onto a nook.

I just hope that it will work on a large screen not just a phone screen without a hack.

I hate Google but their creation of Android is brilliant. It makes the web, and therefore Google advertising, ubiquitous.

Generally speaking all Android apps will scale to the native screen resolution.

For example, my Android phone has a resolution of around 850x600 (can't remember the exact numbers but it's 16:9 and around 850 pixels wide) and all the apps I use scale perfectly to this resolution. Many Android tablets have a resolution not much higher than my phone.

Given Android's versatility for screen sizes I can't imagine the app won't scale beautifully.

Now someone needs to make an Android tablet with a colour e-ink display capable of video and I'll pay whatever they ask!

I'd be a bit dubious, though, of hacking the Kindle app to run on the nook and being able to use the eInk display. More likely, it would want to use the color LCD by default.

Maybe the Alex would be a better device to try this app.

The Android Kindle App has arrived! So far so good, though there's no way to read books stored on the device itself. Only books managed via your Kindle account. It looks very nice for a first go though.

Its here... Kindle for Android

The Amazon Kindle application is now available for smartphones running Google’s Android.

Yesterday Amazon announced the release of a new Kindle reading application, called Kindle for Android, that is available as a free download for phones running Google’s Android software.

As with other Kindle applications, users will be able to download books they have started reading on other devices directly to their mobile phones and save their place across other devices using Amazon’s Whispersync system.

This new announcement puts Amazon farther ahead of its competitors in offering a read-everywhere experience. For those who do not want to buy a Kindle reading device or don’t want to carry it everywhere, there are Kindle applications for all versions of the Apple iPhone, the iPad, PC and Mac computers, BlackBerry cellphones and now a range of Android-powered phones.
