BBC posts video on Liquavista and their electrowetting screen

BBC has just put out a video and text report on the colour e-paper screen which Liquavista are working on.

It looks promising but we still have to wait a few years to see it in the shops.

Interesting vid - thanks for posting.

The prototype was huge! Made me laugh when the reporter said it wasn't available in the shops - like he was worried there might be a stampede to buy the world's bulkiest ebook reader.

The prototype is using Texas Instrument's reference model, which is supposed to have a 9.7" E-ink screen. That's why it's so large.

There's really nothing new here.

After seeing someone pick it up and move it around I'm sure there's a market somewhere for a big macho reader - while everyone else in your class is fiddling with their thin, girly iPads, make a statement with your chunky TomeReader!

The point of the article is the screen. I remember the first display of a portable CD player where the little player was actually connected via a cable to a huge machine out of sight.
By the time it is ready for the market you can be sure that it will be no bigger than the other readers on the market.

Doesn't look like much of a competition for LCD (too slow). But very interesting for web browsing and book reading (for something like iPad).
