Kindle touch go weiqi online

For the past couple weeks I've been experimenting with the
browser (I have a Kindle Touch) -- finding many good sites
for playing online puzzles, etc. I'll put up a detailed post of
my finds later. But I have noticed several people asking about
Go or Weiqi (or Baduk in Korean) for Kindle. So I checked out
some sites with positive results!

So -- Yes! we can play Go online -- sort of. Several turn-based
Go sites work quite nicely. Two of these are based on dragon
systems -- so I assume any other dragon based servers will also
work.

Northwest Go Server (braindog)
http://nwgo.braindog.org
nice dragon based server where a lot of the Portland Go crowd
hangs out.

not a dragon server, but still works

I think the board looks rather elegant in black and white at
NWGO server. And if anything, it plays easier than on my
android -- but these should also work even on no-flash
androids, like my little LG phone. But I actually prefer the
Kindle.

Games can be observed (by tapping the game number next
to games in progress). Dragon servers are a little clunky for
playback -- not a Kindle fault. You must tap each move
number in the results grid to redraw the board at that
point. But it is doable. It's better for seeing the game
at an earlier state than actually playing through it.

If you aren't familiar with turn-based servers, I recommend
looking it over first on your PC. This is not 'real-time' Go.
Players move and then can go away and check in later to
see if their opponent moved. Of course, you could play
real-time by simply making an agreement with another player
to play continuously (which some people do).

Another Online Go Weiqi Server

Another online go server that works with the kindle
touch is Online Go Server:
http://www.online-go.com

This is also a turn-based go server but some people play almost
real-time. The board looks a little 'squished' on the Kindle, but
it is all there and works. Signup is free, of course.
