No it does not 'Work Fine' with your OS.
Like many other NEWER things, The OS has a minimum. In this case, you want a 3rd party to do additional effort, just so YOU can love an obsolete OS (with no security patches).
Note: I do have an XP pro system. I keep it to run old external HW that never had a driver for W10. I can't even get a version of RDC that could be used to connect to my W10pro system. No NAS access as the security protocol has evolved.
If you want to keep that paperwat gen 11, the email your books to it

If you want to use Calibre with your new Paperwhite, your only option is to upgrade to Windows 10/11. Compatibility with new devices won't be added to old versions of Calibre, only the current one.

He can use the calibre web server and the kindle web browser, he could also duel boot a linux OS and use that.

The best solution for him ifhe wants to keep using win7 is to use linux and run win7 in a VM.

There are other reasons too, why the Kindle Paperwhite is bulls..t:
- you cannot hide the Startpage (wrong info in Manual, shows how to do it)
- no possibility to downgrade firmware
- support guy says: "no more support of MOBI, AZW3 and AZW
I sent it back and bought a Pocketbook HD3 !!

Support guy is giving you a load of BS. Amazon is not dropping KF8. If they did that, then there would be an outcry from those who have Kindles that do not support KFX.

I'm hoping Amazon drop Mobi but that's unlikely for the foreseeable future.
