Heh, I thought the same thing too. There is a warning on The One That Got Away's editor review that it could be too dark too. So I went for The Mermaid's Sister and The Dead Key.

My first thought about Wreckage was also murder and cannibalism. It sounded like the most intriguing story, though, so I got it. I'm undecided about the second book--no mermaid fantasy for me, but the other two sound halfway decent.

I'm curious about Wreckage, too: maybe if somebody bought that one, they could do a search on "ate" and "cannibal" to see if that's the big secret! |

I got Wreckage too, and then I got the YA one for my teenage daughter.

I actually ended up getting The Dead Key, Wreckage, and had my SO get The Mermaid's Sister since I couldn't decide.

Ahh, I see why people are thinking cannibalism for Wreckage now. I guess I'm too much of a scifi fan, I was thinking more of a Lost type of bizarre stuff happening on the island.

I automatically thought that too until I realized it is listed as contemporary fiction and not sci-fi/fantasy.
